What’re Ya Waitin’ For!?

I know, you have been nipping at the bits for the rest of the Rocky rant. Here ya go. WAIT… Go watch the freaking movies before reading this! Do it!

Rocky II (Redemption)

Yea, they used roman numerals, Sly wrote and directed this one, how the heck have you not watched it yet!? Now, the media and fans have apparently turned on Apollo, he wants to get back in their good graces (and save face… Mostly just save face) by having a rematch with Rocky. There’s some back and forth, blah blah blah, and Rocky agrees. This is the fight that you wanted to see in the first one, a motivated Apollo and a… You know what, this isn’t the one. The fight that you really want to see is the one that I can’t talk about yet… I digress. Just like in the first one, and for basically this entire series, you need to focus on the journey. And the soundtrack. Oh, Fun Fact, there’s a big emphasis on Rocky (a southpaw) learning how to fight right handed to surprise and throw off Apollo… Because Sly tore his left pec prior to shooting requiring them to write in Rocky switching to using his right hand during a script overhaul. If Adrian saying “win” doesn’t bring a tear to your eye unfollow me right now.

Rocky III ()

Hulk Hogan and Mr. T are in this movie! I know, you probably have no grasp on how big of a deal this is, but you’ll understand this next point… Eye Of The Tiger was made specifically for this movie. Yup, the Rocky theme song didn’t come around until this one. I can’t say this enough (but I’ll keep saying it anyway), go watch these freaking movies! Then come back here and finish reading. They made the Rocky Statue for this movie. Please let that sink in for a moment. They made the freaking Rocky Statue for this movie! In the movie, Rocky is smelling himself a bit (I love that saying… Although, it seems like it should be more negative. Like smelling yourself and not enjoying it, like you have BO? Maybe it’s just me), getting a little cocky, and the new version of his younger self (Mr. T) starts campaigning for a shot at the belt. If the Mickie scene doesn’t make you cry you have no soul. This movie, and every one thereafter, was supposed to be the last in the series. At some point in time during the filming they changed the script like “nah, this is too good, they’re gonna want some more”. Oh, the fight at the end… the very very very end of this movie was won by
