On The Fifth Day…

On the fifth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Five family members,
Four election days,
Three months in,
Two different gyms,
And a surreal year with Covid 19!

For the past 5+ years, I’ve been working on building my family tree. This year, for whatever reason, it seemed like a good idea to take a blood test to try and fill in some of the gaps and get past some of the walls I’ve hit along the way.

By doing so, I discovered that my ethnicity is estimated to be:

33% Cameroon, Congo & Western Bantu people’s,

19% Mali,

18% Nigerian,

8% Benin & Togo,

6% Senegal,

4% Ivory Coast & Ghana,

4% Ireland,

3% Germanic Europe,

2% Scotland,

1% England & Northwestern Europe,

1% Northern Africa,

1% Ethiopia & Eritrea,

and last but CERTAINLY not least (drumroll please), the icing on the cake…

I reconnected with a sister who has a family of her own! Loonnngggg story, but I’m looking forward to it.

Until next time, get to know your family.

I have been so overwhelmed with the initial discovery that I have yet to dig further into any of this. Maybe I’ll make that a goal for 2021 Alphonso…
