So… My birthday started with repeatedly snoozing my 4:45am alarm until around 5:25am, jumping out of bed, rushing myself into the bathroom, and brushing my teeth in the shower. Still running late, I zoomed (I really hate speeding, but I hate running late even more) to meet up with the Tribe for another great November Project workout.
There was running, agility ladders, burpees, squats, push-ups, jumping jacks, rock, paper, scissors, and a bit of yoga (a first for me). The workout closed with me standing in front of the group for a special birthday song that ended with “Oorah”.
Then, I was invited to breakfast, a block away. Don’t ask me how it happened, but bottom line – I got lost on the way to the diner.
You know how you instinctively do a phone/keys/wallet check as you exit your vehicle? Well, when I finally figured out where I was supposed to be, and parallel parked out front (like a boss), I did that check… And found that there was something missing, my wallet. Now, I’m faced with a choice. I could go inside and pretend to not be hungry, ask for someone to spot me and offer to repay them later, or leave. I left. I’m not sure if this was the right choice, but as I’m writing this two days after the fact it still feels like none of the options would have felt right.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but there’s metered parking on my street, so I usually park on the next block over. After I parked, on my walk home, I decided that I was going to turn this day around, starting with getting a birthday crown from Burger King.
I ate and tried (unsuccessfully) to take a nap, then went to meet up with Noodle for dinner. I gave him the usual hug and kiss on the top of his head and immediately got the feeling that he was uncomfortable. It has finally happened, Noodle is now too cool for public displays of affection. He just stood there and let me have my moment, but he was definitely uncomfortable. I’m not sure how well I’m going to handle this moving forward.
I’m sure that somewhere out there is a one liner about Batman not needing Alfred’s help that I’m sure someone more clever than myself can come up with… Um… Yeah… Moving on… We spent the better part of our time together doing our favorite thing, being active and silly. We ate, played football and some soccer, and rounded the night off with a hypothetical clash of wits.
Annddd, I’ve lost my train of thought. I’m not going to ramble, I’ll just try to wrap it up here. It might have been a bit of a Rocky road, but I can’t think of a better way to bring in 33.

Until next time, when life hands you lemons get a birthday crown.
P.S. My Birthday Resolution is to focus more on my fitness. I think I got a good start.
